MOVIE NIGHTS #4, Season 2 : "YOUTH"

Carte blanche au Festival International du Court Métrage de la Jeunesse de Paris, initié par le Comète Film Festival et les étudiants de l'association Comète - Télécom ParisTech.

Pour fêter l'actuel appel à films de la 2ème édition du Comète Film Festival pour l'année #2019, avec le soutien renouvelé de l'Université Paris-Saclay à la "Best Foreign Film Category", l'équipe du Comète Film Festival se joint au Centre de Langues Mutualisé et à CentraleSupélec, l'Université Paris-Sud et l'ENS Paris-Saclay pour lancer la saison 2 des "Movie Nights" (de Janvier à Mai 2019) et son nouveau thème : la Jeunesse.

Rendez-Vous Mardi 15 Janvier 2019 pour la reprise de l'intégralité de la sélection de films courts en langue étrangère #2018.

Accueil à 19h30.
20h : Première partie "The Fast / Le Jeûne", épisode #1 de la web-série QuiProQuo, écrit et tourné en langue anglaise par les étudiants / réalisation Krishna Bagadiya pour l'Université Paris-Saclay.
20h30 : Soirée de reprise proposée par le Comète Film Festival (5 films) et échanges avec les invités.

Foreign Language Film Category :

"NOIR & BLANC" (Xavier Frank VANIER – 5’00, langue : peul / français)
Genre: biographique
Synopsis : Une histoire de contrastes. De couleur, de peau, de culture, de comportement, de projets, de vision… Le regard innocent que porte un « broussard » sur les Blancs qui l’entourent. Nous sommes différents mais égaux.

"SOMEONE ELSE" (Alexandre DEGARDIN – 14’13, langue : anglais)
Ce film a remporté le Prix du Meilleur Film en langue étrangère.

Synopsis : Titus GANDY est un jeune américain issu du New Jersey, qui est venu à New York pour essayer de percer dans le milieu du cinéma en tant qu’acteur. C’est un jour où il était sur Times Square qu’il a vu le vai « Naked Cowboy » (Robert BURCK), et lui a demandé s’il pouvait faire partie de son entreprise. C’est alors que commença son aventure personnelle en tant que « Black Naked Cowboy ».

"NICK’S PUPPETS" (Benjamin RANCOULE – 9’40, langue : anglais)
Genre: comédie dramatique
Synopsis : Un père de famille cherche son fils disparu, deux marionnettes vont alors mystérieusement prendre vie pour l’aider dans sa quête.

"ITALIAN MIRACLE" (Francesco GABRIELE – 9’10, langue : italien / anglais)
Genre: comédie
Synopsis : In a rural italian village, Antonio is asked to translate an English-speaking woman’s confession, but when she starts disagreeing with the priest, he has to make a decision that might change the course of her life and maybe his own.

"SCREEN COWBOY" (Morgan GUERING – 14’05, langue : anglais)
Genre: aventure
Synopsis : Un chasseur de prime se lance dans une enquête périlleuse : retrouver les icônes de son enfance, avant que la modernité ne les fasse définitivement disparaître.

Our new Common Languages Centre illustrates the cooperation between the establishments of Paris-Saclay. CentraleSupélec, lENS Paris-Saclay and the University of Paris Sud are working together on cultural projects which allow us to optimize and develop innovative and varied teaching methods.

Our cultural activities team is delighted to welcome you to this third "movie night" organized in partnership with the University of Paris-Saclay and the associations Rêve Ensemble and TheMovieLightProject. It is one of a series of original version film showings followed each time by an open discussion. The theme of this first term has been "It’s a Weird World", exploring science-fiction and futuristic films, made in English ("The Handmaid's Tale" shown on 29/09), Spanish ("Mientras Duermes" shown on 23/10), and French ("The Big Everything" shown on 04/12). Our second term will bring you films in other languages, including German, Portuguese and Japanese, around a new theme. Our aim is to help you discover films that are rarely seen in cinemas and to experience them in their original version (subtitled). Our discussions take place in French, English and the target language to enable everyone to express themselves.

The showing of the "Comète / Best Foreign Film Category #2018" will take place on Tuesday 15th January in the amphitheatre of the Common Languages Centre on the third floor of the Eiffel building on the CentraleSupélec campus. You are welcome to join us from 7:30p.m. (a meeting point on the ground floor will help you find your way up to the venue). The screening is scheduled to begin at 8p.m.
