It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Amélie Bochot, aged 56. Amélie passed away on January 31st, following an illness that she had been fighting with immense courage for more than ten years.
As a Doctor of Pharmacy and graduate of the University of Burgundy, Amélie joined UMR CNRS 8612 in October 1993 to pursue a DEA (Master’s degree) in Pharmacotechnology and Biopharmacy, followed by a PhD thesis under the supervision of Elias Fattal and Patrick Couvreur, which she defended in 1998. Amélie became a lecturer in the same year and joined Dominique Duchêne’s team, where she conducted scientific research on cyclodextrins. In 2000, she and Elias established Team 5 within the CNRS unit 8612, then known as “Pharmaceutical Vectorization of Fragile Molecules.” She became a university professor of pharmacotechnology in 2014. She took charge of the Master’s program in Pharmaceutical Production Technology and Management. At the same time, she developed, in collaboration with Florence Agnely, a new and highly original area of research focused on the design of innovative forms of intra-auricular administration. Amélie brought great rigor and high standards to her work. The doctoral students, Master’s students, and interns she supervised can attest to her attentive listening skills and her excellent availability.
We will all remember Amélie’s great sense of humor, her bright smile, and her keen eye for beauty and goodness. She loved life and embodied elegance and refinement in everything she did. She will always remain in the thoughts of all of us.
